	Consumer Events CONSUMER AWARENESS TRAINING TO SELF HELP GROUP/PANCHAYAT LEVEL FEDERATION MEMBERS Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, a Department vested with the responsibility of protecting consumers from exploitation of rights as envisaged under Consumer Protection Act, 1986, desired to propagate consumer rights and create awareness among general public through SHG / PLF forum members so as to reach the masses especially those residing in rural areas. This training has been proposed to be conducted as three tier training programme with the financial outlay of Rs.69,90,600/- funded by Government of India. The first level training is Training of Trainers and the training programme was completed and it was conducted in three centres - Chennai, Dindigul and Coimbatore districts as a residential training programme for 3 days. 5 leading Consumer Activists from various Voluntary Consumer Organizations were selected as State Level Master Trainers to train the District Level Trainers. A curriculum was also developed on Consumer Awareness for the said training. 150 activists, identified from the voluntary Consumer Organizations were attended the training and these trainers will in turn train the members of Self Help Groups at Block Level . The training guide provide to the trainers will be very useful to everyone as a consumer. Hence the training guide is made available in www.consumer.tn.gov.in under caption ‘Publications’
